The Loudest Word
Valene's growth which has been removed from her colon proves to be malignant. With Gary's help she prepares for the operation which might leave her with a colostomy. It takes brother Bobby for Gary to realize he'd rather Valene dies than live with this disfunction but after a drink he knows better. He wants Val any way he can.
"It says here I could scuba dive. I never could before." Valene Ewing.

Dr. Harper (Arthur Rosenburg) calls Val into his office and tells her to bring Gary with her.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Doctor tells Val she has cancer of the colon and will need an opration. Ginger tells Kenny she doesn't need him.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The Fairgates mull over Val's condition and how they would handle something like it.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
"I worry about Gary." It's just like Val to say this. Richard keeps things light, "Look, she had a little growth."
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Gary breaks down. "I wish that I'd been with you every step of the way." He ransacks the bedroom.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The girls visit with Val. Kenny, "If that's the way you think of me then maybe we shouldn't be married."
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Val has a moment of weakness then a surprise visit from Bobby, "Mama, she had something like this."
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Now that there's a chance Gary may lose Val he regrets all the cheating he's done on her in the past.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Val pulls through the surgery okay and at last Gary realizes he'd love Val no matter what.
