One of a Kind
Karen strings popcorn with Richard for Christmas while Laura entertains Scooter Warren (played by Allan Miller) whose wife left him. Then Karen meets up with an old flame Teddy Becker (actor Terry Kiser) but Teddy seems more interested in Diana the reason being he thinks Diana's is his daughter and because his life is nothing to speak of Karen lets him.
"You were pregnant when you married him, weren't you?" Teddy Becker.

Richard enjoys Karen's company making Christmas decorations while Laura enjoys Scooter's.
|
|
|

|
|
Karen gets a call from an old boyfriend, Teddy. Laura lends a sympathetic ear to Scooter whose wife has left him.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Teddy meets Karen for lunch but they find they don't have much in common any more.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Lilimae makes a quilt for Val's Christmas present unknowing that Val hates them.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
When Diana walks in the kitchen she gets all of Teddy's attention. "Well, hi."
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Teddy mesmorises Diana with his talk of grand political parties and ignores Karen all together.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Abby, "Daughter bags mom's old boyfriend". Later Teddy tells Karen he thinks Diana is his daughter.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
So Karen has a talk with Diana but Diana is in awe of Teddy's lifestyle. Val tells Gary, "I just hate patchwork".

|
|
|
|
|
Laura and Scooter's relationship gets more involved as they share a kiss in the car.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Val tells Gary her mama used to send her store-bought quilts all the time when she didn't come to see her.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Laura gets a surprise present from Richard: a car & from Scooter too which she rejects. "Honey, I don't want it."
|
|
|
|
|
|
| On Christmas morning Val receives the hand-made quilt. Lilimae, "Feel how soft, sugar." Val accepts.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Teddy has kids whom he doesn't see often so Karen lets him think Diana's his child. He gives her a present.
