A Brand New Day
This show marks the entrance of Kevin Dobson as the popular Federal Prosecutor Marion Patrick "Mac" MacKenzie. Karen Fairgate soon gets smitten with Mac while Valene tosses Gary out of his own house for cheating on her with Abby. Abby hangs onto Gary on the assumption he's been named in the Ewing will.

Karen makes sure that Gary and Abby are found out by the one person who matters the most, Valene.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Gary gets a move on the day while Abby sleeps in. Val releaves some stress with a morning run. Such is the life in the cul-de-sac.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
"I'd much rather see you boil in oil," Lilimae tells Gary. Karen and her brother Joe bicker over the paper while Abby tracks Gary down.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Joe presses Lilimae to let Valene, who's staying at none other than Bates Motel, know she must get in touch with him about the book she's writing.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Val's busy writing and Karen meets her future husband, Mack. Mack's first words on the show, "Mrs. Fairgate."
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Karen walks in and sweeps Mack's office like a hurricane demanding the case on her husband Sid's death be reopened.
|
|
|
|
|
|
| In the meantime Lilimae takes Val for some R'n'R at Rusty's ranch.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Abby advises Gary, "Us lepers have to stick together." Mack takes Karen to dinner and starts speaking Italian to impress her.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Once alone in the car Karen's obvious attraction to the Irishman makes her forget about the transcripts and they have their First Kiss.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Mack comes to fix his car at Karen's shop while she questions Gary on his whereabouts. Gary tells her to, "Get off my back." Karen does and fires him.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Gary overhears a phone conversation that tells him where Val is hiding out.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Gary, "My business is with my wife." Val, "I will sleep where I like."
|
|
|
|
|
|
| After a good fight with Rusty Gary returns home to Abby who tells him Lilimae has informed her, "Valene has found herself a real man."
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Karen promotes a loyal employee, Wayne to Gary's position. Gary comes home to Abby but finds mayham going on across the street.
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Valene is back with a vengence and she announces so to Gary. "I am moving back. You're moving out." Val and Abby lock gazes as they silently fight over their man.
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Abby sends Val's book to the Ewings in hopes of stirring some grief. Gary gets back to the bottle and Mack delights Karen with a visit bearing the transcripts.
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Wayne checks out his scrapbook dedicated to his former boss, Sid Farigate. Val listens as Gary's car arrives back in the wee hours. Will he return home to her or will he go to Abby's?? Once again Gary fails to make the right decision but we love him anyway.
