reflecting on Sid Fairgates death.
Sid Fairgate who played Karens
husband, was a pivotal role in Knots Landing from 1979-81.
His death was shock which left people
in suspense as the 1980/1981 cliffhanger when Sid's car went
over a cliff after one of the mechanics at KLMotors lets the
brake fluid out of Sid's car.
  
Sid and the FBI agent drive
along in the car as Sid realizes that the breaks have gone,
he tries to stop the car but nothing happens as the car speeds
along the road.
  
Sid tried to stop the car
but it crashed through a barrier and went over the side of a
cliff crashing below.
Season 3 takes up from where this episode
left off. The FBI agent was killed and Sid is left paralyzed
and goes into a coma where Karen keeps a vigil by his bedside
but then Sid wakes up from his coma.
  
Sid has a blood clot which will permanently
paralyze him unless they operate, however, there's a chance
the operation could kill him. Karen doesn't want him to get
the operation, but Sid insists, and makes Karen sign his consent
form.
Karen "I don't want you to die"
Sid "would you just do what you
know and I know has to be done"
Karen signs the consent form.
Karen "but I swear to god Sid if
anything happens to you........" she leaves crying.
 
Sid undergoes surgery but
dies on the operating table. Karen waits for news in the waiting
room.
  
The doctor comes out to tell Karen. Karen
sees the doctor and slowly walks up the corridor towards him,
when she sees his face she knows Sid is dead.
